PERSONALIZED SUPPORT CLOSE TO HOME
Experienced Birth Support for Minneapolis Families
Preparing for birth can be exciting, overwhelming, and full of questions—sometimes all before breakfast. You may be wondering what labor will feel like, how your partner can help, which choices you will have, or how to prepare if your birth takes an unexpected turn.
As a birth doula serving Minneapolis, I provide personalized prenatal preparation, practical childbirth education, and continuous support throughout labor. Together, we will explore your priorities, prepare your body and partner, and create flexible birth preferences that reflect what matters most to you.
Minneapolis families can choose from a wide range of providers and birth settings, including large hospital birth centers, midwifery practices, freestanding birth centers, and home birth care. Whether you are planning to give birth at The Mother Baby Center at Abbott Northwestern and Children’s Minnesota, The Birthplace at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, Hennepin Healthcare, Minnesota Birth Center, or another Twin Cities location, we will prepare for the setting and options you have chosen.
Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, considering an epidural, preparing for an induction, hoping for a VBAC, or simply keeping your options open, my role is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout your experience.
The Mother Baby Center combines Abbott Northwestern’s maternal care with Children’s Minnesota’s newborn expertise, while M Health Fairview’s Minneapolis Birthplace is located within the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Masonic Children’s Hospital. The Mother Baby Center and M Health Fairview
Support Designed Around You
No two families—or births—are exactly alike. Your doula support should reflect your pregnancy, your preferences, your birth setting, and the kind of care that helps you feel most confident.
During our prenatal time together, we will talk through your hopes, questions, concerns, and previous experiences. We will prepare your partner with practical tools, explore comfort measures and labor positions, and discuss how to communicate your preferences while remaining flexible if plans change.
Your support may include:
• Personalized prenatal appointments
• Birth preferences and informed decision-making
• Body Ready Method® assessment and movement plan
• Hands-on comfort measures and labor positions
• Practical preparation for your partner
• Continuous support throughout labor and birth
• A postpartum follow-up visit
You do not need to have every decision made before contacting a doula. We will prepare together so you can approach birth with greater clarity, confidence, and practical tools.
PREPARATION, EDUCATION & LABOR SUPPORT
How I Support You
Doula support begins during pregnancy—not when contractions start. We will prepare your body, your partner, and your birth preferences so you have practical tools and experienced support for whatever path your labor takes.
Personalized Birth Preparation: During our prenatal appointments, we will discuss your goals, concerns, birth setting, comfort preferences, and questions. You will receive practical education tailored to your pregnancy and the kind of birth you are preparing for.
Body Ready Method® Preparation: An individualized assessment, functional movement, and pregnancy-safe exercises help support mobility, pelvic balance, and comfort. We will also practice positions you can use throughout labor.
Partner Preparation: Your partner will learn hands-on comfort measures, position changes, emotional reassurance, and practical ways to stay confidently involved—without feeling like they are expected to remember an entire childbirth textbook.
Continuous Labor Support: During labor, I provide steady emotional support, comfort measures, movement and position suggestions, and help you communicate questions and preferences to your medical team.
Whether your birth includes an epidural, induction, unmedicated labor, cesarean, or an unexpected change of plans, you will continue to receive thoughtful, experienced support.
BODY READY METHOD®
Preparing Your Body for Labor
As a certified Body Ready Method® Pro, I incorporate individualized movement and body preparation into our prenatal work together.
We may explore pelvic balance, mobility, comfortable movement patterns, and positions that create space for your baby to rotate and descend. You and your partner will also practice positions and hands-on techniques you can use during different stages of labor.
Body preparation cannot guarantee a VBAC or prevent a cesarean. It can give you practical tools for comfort and mobility while helping you feel more prepared for the physical work of labor.
Your preparation may include:
• An individualized Body Ready Method® assessment
• Functional movement and mobility
• Pelvic balance and position awareness
• Labor positions for different parts of the pelvis
• Hands-on comfort techniques for your partner
• A personalized prenatal movement plan

Where I Support Minneapolis Families
I support families throughout Minneapolis and the surrounding Twin Cities, providing personalized prenatal preparation and continuous doula care wherever they choose to give birth.
Minneapolis families have access to many different models of maternity care. Some choose a hospital-based obstetric or midwifery practice, while others plan to give birth at a freestanding birth center or at home. Your choice may be influenced by your provider, medical needs, previous birth experiences, desired level of intervention, or the environment in which you feel most comfortable.
During our prenatal appointments, we will talk about your chosen birth setting, its typical routines, and the questions you may want to discuss with your provider. We will also prepare practical comfort measures, movement options, and communication tools that can be adapted to your birth environment.
I have experience supporting many different kinds of births, including unmedicated labor, epidural births, inductions, VBACs, planned cesareans, and unexpected changes of plans.

Meet Your Minneapolis Doula
I’m Terri, a DONA-Certified Birth Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, Hypnobabies® Certified Doula, VBAC Link® Certified Doula, and Body Ready Method® Pro.
Since beginning my work as a doula in 2018, I have supported hundreds of families through many different kinds of births, including unmedicated births, epidurals, inductions, VBACs, planned and unplanned cesareans, and births that unfolded differently than expected.
My approach combines evidence-based education, personalized body preparation, practical partner coaching, and experienced hands-on labor support. I bring a calm, steady presence while helping you understand your options and feel confident making decisions that are right for your family.
You do not need to prepare for birth alone—or have every detail figured out before reaching out. We will prepare intentionally, remain flexible, and make sure both you and your partner have practical tools for the day you meet your baby.

— Courtney B. “She has the calmest, most grounding presence. She made me feel safe from the moment she walked in.”
— Amporo P.““I look back with peace and love instead of grief and resentment. So much of that is because of the support Terri gave me.”
— Brinn J. Questions About Birth Doula Support
-
A birth doula provides personalized prenatal preparation, emotional reassurance, physical comfort measures, partner support, and continuous care throughout labor. I help you understand your options, prepare for different possibilities, and communicate questions and preferences to your medical team. A doula does not perform medical procedures, diagnose conditions, or make medical decisions.
-
Many families hire a doula during the second trimester, but you can reach out at any point in pregnancy. Connecting earlier gives us more time to prepare your body, discuss your preferences, involve your partner, and build a comfortable relationship before labor. Availability is limited by due date, so earlier is usually better.
-
I support families throughout Minneapolis and the surrounding Twin Cities. I attend births at Minneapolis hospitals and birth centers, including The Mother Baby Center at Abbott Northwestern and Children’s Minnesota, The Birthplace at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, Hennepin Healthcare, and Minnesota Birth Center. I may also support home births and births at other Twin Cities locations. Contact me if you are unsure whether your home or chosen birthplace is within my service area.
-
Not at all. I support unmedicated births, epidural births, inductions, VBACs, planned cesareans, and births that change direction unexpectedly. Doula support is not about following one “right” way to give birth. It is about helping you feel informed, respected, comfortable, and well supported throughout your experience.
-
No. Your partner knows you; I know birth. I help your partner understand what may be happening, suggest practical ways to support you, and step in when an extra set of hands is helpful. The goal is for your partner to feel more confident and involved—not pushed aside or expected to remember everything from childbirth class.
-
Our prenatal work may include discussing your birth priorities, creating flexible birth preferences, preparing questions for your provider, practicing comfort measures and labor positions, completing an individualized Body Ready Method® assessment, and helping your partner prepare for an active support role.
-
Yes. As a certified Body Ready Method® Pro, I incorporate individualized movement, mobility, pelvic balance, and position awareness into prenatal preparation. You may receive a personalized movement plan, along with labor positions and hands-on techniques for you and your partner to practice.
-
My support continues if labor unfolds differently than expected. Whether your birth includes an induction, epidural, assisted birth, or cesarean, I will help you understand what is happening, prepare questions, communicate your preferences, and feel supported through the change. Doula care is never dependent on achieving one particular outcome.
Still wondering whether birth doula support is right for you? Let’s talk about your hopes, questions, birth location, and the kind of support that would help you feel most prepared.
